Welcome!
Wen Wu School Portland invites you to experience Dayan or Wild Goose Qigong, an ancient Chinese movement art developed to promote health, well-being and longevity. Qigong (pronounced "chee gung") is the practice of moving the body's "qi" or vital energy. With regular practice, students have experienced improvements in energy, stamina, mobility, comfort and equanimity. It is considered one of the safest, most complete and most effective types of Qigong.
Wild Goose Qigong came to Portland in 1996, with one teacher and one student. Kathryn Langstaff and Ann Baker co-founded the Wen Wu School Portland in 1999. We are a sister school of the original Wen Wu School www.wenwuschool.com in El Cerrito, California. We have trained over 250 students in Dayan Qigong. Our teachers, Kathryn Langstaff, Lita Buttolph, Fran Selke-Minogue, Tatiana Tannenbaum and Teresa Farrell graduated from the Teachers Certification Course offered by the Wen Wu School and accredited by the California Acupuncture Board. They continue their studies with Master Hui Liu, who studied with Grandmaster Yang Meijun for 25 years.
Students of all ages and abilities are welcome to join our classes. Our students have ranged in age from 8 to mid-80s and in vitality. Dayan Qigong is a safe and effective form of exercise for active vibrant people, the elderly and chronically ill. It can be modified and practiced in a seated position. We embrace diversity and do not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, age, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disability. Wen Wu School Portland supports businesses with fair practices and non-discrimination policies.
